Referral Process

Below is a summary of the referral process and treatment. Details about waiting lists and funding criteria can be found in the appropriate sections of the website.

Referall Process

Once it is determined that the patient needs assisted conception (following a hospital or Reproductive Medicine Clinic referral), their care will be transferred to the Assisted Conception Unit.

At this stage, a doctor will review the referral, whilst one of our administrators will send out a registration questionnaire, Welfare of the Child and Consent forms for the patient to complete and return to the unit. These forms are available on this website for patients to download.

Based on the information on the registration questionnaire, the patient's eligibility for NHS funding will be assessed. If the patient is eligible for funding, they will be placed on the appropriate waiting list and notified of the length of time they will have to wait before funding becomes available.

Those patients who do not meet funding criteria, will be notified and offered treatment on a self funding basis.

Details about the various modes of care can be found in the appropriate part of the website.
